Why should you support The Florida Orchestra?
Thank you for your interest in supporting The Florida Orchestra. Like all orchestras in the United States, TFO depends upon the generosity of its community to sustain and advance the mission of the orchestra. Each year, TFO turns to its supporters for additional support, financial and otherwise.
We are reaching a diverse audience with our Masterworks, Pops, and Rock series as well as special concerts. We are investing in our youth through our Classical Kids program, family concerts and support in arts education. Each gift supports the music you hear, the artistic quality you experience and enriches the cultural landscape of Tampa Bay. The most visible impact of giving back is seen in our ability to deliver unique and ambitious concerts to grow audiences with innovative programs and new collaborations. We have developed a strong community outreach to cultivate an appreciation for the experience of live orchestral music and to provide support for music education at all age levels throughout Tampa Bay. We are increasing accessibility through reduced prices and diversified programming. In fact 40% of all the 150,000 concert experiences last season were FREE. We are now serving 67% more households than in 2009, with an increased paid audience of 34% during that time.
At the same time, it is crucial that everyone in TFO’s family recognize that ticket sales only cover about one-third of our operating expenses, and we depend on the generosity of donors to make it possible for us to extend the joys of music to the Tampa Bay community. TFO relies on tax deductible individual donations to the Annual Fund to fulfill our mission to inspire, educate and entertain.
You can support TFO in a variety of ways. Whether you give your time, your talent or your treasure, your gift will make a difference by providing live symphonic music for Tampa Bay.
Fundraising initiatives at the orchestra consists of four ongoing but separate programs:
Annual Fund: The annual giving program provides the essential, unrestricted dollars for the operating budget that enhance The Florida Orchestra experience.
Arts Initiative: The arts initiative program provides venture capital for many of The Florida Orchestra’s start-up programs and the expansion of its existing programs.
Endowment: Endowment giving is a way to provide long-term support and stability for The Florida Orchestra. Gifts to endowment are invested to provide the orchestra with a continuous source of income, which can be used to promote programs important to our mission.
Legacy Support: This provides general and endowment support to The Florida Orchestra through individuals’ bequests, annuities, and other planned giving vehicles.
