Robert Rearden, Principal
The Iris and Alvin Bernstein Chair
Robert Rearden joined The Florida Orchestra as principal horn in October 2010. He has performed regularly as an extra and substitute player with The Cleveland Orchestra, including tours of Europe, Asia and the United States. He has also performed as a substitute player with The Philadelphia Orchestra and the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, and he was a special guest artist for the YouTube Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. He was a member of the New World Symphony from 2006 to 2010. Rearden has performed at the Tanglewood, Aspen, Spoleto USA, Britt and Artosphere music festivals. He has been a frequent guest principal horn of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. Rearden recently traveled to Havana, Cuba with colleagues from The Florida Orchestra to perform and teach as part of the orchestra’s ongoing cultural exchange with Cuba. Rearden completed his undergraduate degree at the University of South Carolina as a student of Robert Pruzin and a master of music degree and an artist diploma at the Cleveland Institute of Music as a student of Eli Epstein and Richard Solis.
