Award-winning conductor Elim Chan, a native of Hong Kong, is quickly making a name for herself around the globe. So is Swiss-Chinese pianist Louis Schwizgebel, who makes his TFO debut on Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 26, “Coronation.” Also on the program are Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 1 and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1, both full of youthful vigor and look back at the classical period and the music of Haydn. In Con Brio, which means “with energy,” Jorg Widmann uses fragments and influences from Beethoven symphonies.
