Special Concert: Pinchas Zukerman:
Apr. 12, 13 & 14

In a special non-series concert, Pinchas Zukerman takes center stage in the dual role of conductor and violin soloist in a program of Schubert's Symphony No. 5 on a program with Elgar's Serenade for Strings and Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 3. Hailed by The Los Angeles Times as "an aristocratic fiddler with a brilliant and honeyed tone," Grammy Award-winning Pinchas Zukerman has produced over 100 recordings as a violinist, violist, conductor, and chamber musician.

In addition to his active concert career and his position as the music director of Canada's National Arts Centre Orchestra, Zukerman is involved in the arts on many levels: through the National Arts Centre, he established the Conductors' Programme to further the talents of upcoming conductors under the tutelage of established orchestra leaders; he set up the Zukerman Musical Instrument Fund to assist orchestral musicians in acquiring donated or new instruments; and he chairs the Pinchas Zukerman Performance program at the Manhattan School of Music, where he pioneered a distance-learning technology and video conferencing system to provide his students with regular lessons while on tour. In addition to performing with the world's leading orchestras, he has also held several artistic positions: music director of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Baltimore Symphony's Summer MusicFest, London's South Bank Festival, and Dallas Symphony's International Summer Music Festival. Zukerman last performed with TFO on the 2004/05 season in an all-Beethoven concert.

As a subscriber benefit, tickets for this concert are currently available only to those subscribing to any of the 2007/08 season series. This concert is a free bonus concert for anyone purchasing the 14-concert Imperial or the 10-concert Intermezzo series.
