3) Latin Explosion With Tito Puente, Jr:
Nov. 16, 17 & 18

Tito Puente, Jr. salutes his late father's extraordinary legacy as "The King of the Timbales" in a concert of pop, jazz, salsa, merengue and mambo, together with such Puente classics as Cayuco, Oye Como Va, Ran Kan Kan, Complicacion and more. Tito Puente had performed on the Pops series on the 1998/99 season, and this concert marks Tito Puente, Jr.'s debut with TFO.

The son and musical disciple of Tito Puente "The King of the Timbales," Tito Puente, Jr. says, "There was magic in the music my father made. It made people happy, all over the world. My goal is to keep it alive, and in doing so, expose it to a whole new generation." Among his recent performances, Tito Puente, Jr. has appeared with the Dallas Symphony and San Antonio Symphony and has been a featured artist at the Kravis Center in Florida, the Popejoy Hall in New Mexico, and Ford Amphitheater in Los Angeles. Among his television appearances, he performed a musical tribute to his father's music on NBC's two-hour special "The Apollo at 70: A Hot Night in Harlem," honoring his father's New York Puerto Rican roots and his many appearances at the Apollo Theater.

Tito Puente, Jr. has also been a headliner at such prestigious jazz festivals as those of New Haven, Houston, Harlem and Atlanta. In addition to performances in the showrooms of major casinos and cruise lines, he has participated in two USO Tours during the past few years, performing for troops in Japan, Korea, Spain and Italy, and has appeared at fundraising events, including the Jerry Lewis MD Telethon.
