Motown, Hollywood, Cirque de la Symphonie, Broadway,

TAMPA, FL -- Celebrating its 40th Anniversary next year, The Florida Orchestra (TFO) announced the programming today for the 2007/08 Raymond James Super Pops series under the direction of Principal Pops Conductor Richard Kaufman. The eight-concert symphonic pops series covers a variety of musical styles and artists: a film music tribute to John Wayne and the American Western; Broadway songs with a salute to Frank Loesser; Tito Puente Jr. playing salsa, merengue, mambos and other Latin classics made famous by his father; a holiday pops program of favorite carols and seasonal tunes; Cirque de la Symphonie featuring veteran acrobats, jugglers, and other artists from internationally renowned cirque programs; a selection of best-loved songs by George and Ira Gershwin together with George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue; The Contours performing classic Motown hits by Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, The Four Tops and other Motown artists; and a Memorial Day-themed concert of patriotic songs, Sousa marches and favorites by American composer Leroy Anderson.

The Raymond James Super Pops programs are performed in the three principal cities of the Tampa Bay area: Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center (Carol Morsani Hall or Ferguson Hall) in Tampa, Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater and the Mahaffey Theater at the Progress Energy Center in St. Petersburg.
