Music Director Stefan Sanderling will conduct eleven of the fifteen Masterworks programs. Also on the podium this season will be three conductors making their TFO debuts: music director of both Seville Orchestra and the Orquesta Filarmonica de Gran Canaria in Spain,
Pedro Halffter conducting Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique, Falla's La Vida Breve and Villa-Lobos' Guitar Concerto featuring Jason Vieaux; Gunther Herbig, former music director of both the Detroit and Toronto symphony orchestras, conducting the orchestra in Mozart's Symphony No. 41, Jupiter and Sibelius' Symphony No. 1; and Austrian conductor Christoph Campestrini in a program of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana and the TFO premiere of John Harbison's Concerto for Bass Viol with TFO Principal Bassist Dee Moses. Returning in the dual role of conductor and violin soloist, Music Director of Canada's National Arts Centre Orchestra Pinchas Zukerman conducts a special Masterworks concert of Schubert's Symphony No. 5 on a program with Elgar's Serenade for Strings and Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 3.
